Power generation from Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plants have ramped up this morning in response to a fall in wind production, according to the daily market report from npower.

CCGT power plants are generating around 15GW of energy while production from wind farms dropped to just 0.6GW and is set to remain around that level throughout the rest of the day.

However, the power system “remains healthy” this morning, with the peak margin above 12GW, Client Portfolio Manager Sarah Marshall (pictured) said.

Looking at the gas system, she adds it opened “roughly balanced”.

“BBL flows have seen little change this morning, currently at around 20mcm however Langeled flows have dropped down to around 13mcm following the commencement of Troll field maintenance today which is due to last for three days”, she said.

Oil is “a touch lower again” this morning, with Brent currently trading at around $108.6 (£64.8) a barrel.
