The firm that will own and operate the transmission links to the West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm in the UK has been named.
Ofgem picked Blue Transmission – made up of Macquarie Capital Group Limited, 3i BIFL Investments Limited and Frontier Power Limited – as the preferred bidder for the £296 million offshore links.
The wind farm, which generated its first power in January this year, consists of 108 turbines and has a total installed capacity of 389MW.
“Blue Transmission will own and operate the West Duddon Sands wind farm’s transmission system for the next 20 years”, Ofgem said.
The project is a 50:50 joint venture between ScottishPower Renewables and DONG Energy.
