The UK gas system looks “well supplied” today, according to analysts at npower.
The market experts noted the Linepack (i.e. the gas system) is forecast to close the day with 8 million cubic meters (mcm) more than the UK needs.
Alex Guiot, Client Portfolio Manager at npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “The power system also remains healthy this morning, with a big margin of over 10 GW forecast.”
Efficient gas power plants – Combined Cycle Gas Turbines or CCGT – once more edging above coal on the power supply front.
He said: “continue to generate marginally more than coal, at 35% of the stack, against 33% coal.”
Wind generation remains “subdued” at around 400MW, added Mr Guiot.
