This little piggy went to market… the energy market that is.

A new supplier called Oink Energy launched today, hoping to become one of the contenders giving the Big Six suppliers a run for their money.

The business is operating under the licence of renewable energy supplier Green Energy UK which is run by Douglas Stewart and Tim Smith.

The provider claims it will be better at customer support, pledging to have callers speak to a “named person” within 30 seconds of calling and an email reply on the same working day.

As for price, Oink said an average household will pay “no more” than £1,198 per year on its single dual-fuel tariff.

This isn’t the cheapest price on the market but Oink seems to be hoping its mascots – a family of four pigs, Peter, Peggy, Sparky and Titch – will help people warm to it.

The supplier had no official comment from its representatives as it wants people to focus on the characters in the Oink “family” – with promo material revealing the son supports “Trottenham” while daughter Titch reads “Harry Trotter”.
