Energy supplier E.ON UK is promising potential customers they will be able to switch to the company in “record time”.

The supplier claims a system revamp means domestic customers can join it in “just” 17 days (including a 14 day cooling off period).

It says this is a 50% improvement from working practice at the moment, meaning it will meet the so-called “14+3 model” laid out by Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Davey.

The changes are due to be in place within three months.

David Bird, Residential and Customer Operations Director said: “The first phase will ensure our processing systems can adjust to quicker movements in gas and electricity accounts and we will complete that step in early November.”

He added: “Then from January we will have in place the steps needed to help customers join quicker, meaning their E.ON accounts will be started in around half the time, when compared with the previous system.”
