Funding worth £7.5 million is to be provided to improve the ways in which energy is managed on ships and other marine and maritime vessels.

Companies with innovative ideas can soon bid for a share of the cash ranging between £500,000 and £1.5 million.

Projects must be led by a business and be collaborative with at least one other partner, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (dstl) and Innovate UK said.

“Our aim is to stimulate innovation in technologies that will enable greater efficiencies in the production, management and use of energy on board a vessel,” they added.

The competition opens for applications on 12th January 2015 and the deadline for registration is 4th March 2015.
