Oil giant BP has been dishing out big numbers when it comes to the role it plays in the US economy.

The company released its second annual US Economic Impact Report this week, claiming to support around 220,000 jobs of which it employs more than 18,000 of them in the United States.

Its total business activities are worth around $143bn (£95bn), it said, with plans to spend $60 million (£40m) this year on academic research, educational schemes and recruitment activities at more than 50 US universities.
