A pair of tower blocks in the US state of Texas will effectively be powered by 100% renewable electricity after their owner’s deal with an energy firm.
Real estate firm MetroNational has bought Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) for its commercial office buildings in Memorial City, west Houston.
The deal with supplier GDF SUEZ Energy Resources is expected to offset 20 million kilowatts of its electricity use for the two high-rises, the 12-storey One Memorial City Plaza and 14-storey Three Memorial City Plaza.
