An organisation that supplies high-technology systems to customers in the oil and gas sector has been awarded a standard for being energy efficient.

KONGSBERG’s offices in Guilford, Surrey has become the second recipient of the Carbon Trust’s ‘Low Carbon Workplace Standard’.

Located in a 160-year old former printing press, the office has installed a range of energy efficient technologies, including one that provides efficient heating, cooling and ventilation as well as a smart metering system.

The Carbon Trust uses data from the metering system to further improve the building’s efficiency.

Bruno Gardner, Managing Director of Low Carbon Workplace at the Carbon Trust said: “Designing a building to be energy efficient is important but the potential benefits can only be fully realised if the building is subsequently used intelligently.”

Investec Wealth and Investment Management was the first company to be awarded the standard.
