A group of activists will be removed from a plot of land in Poole after the local council was granted a possession order.

The Bearwood and Merley Organic Free Energy Community group took hold of a plot of land in Magna Road, Poole on 15 January.

According to their Facebook Page, the group plans to create a sustainable community by producing their own food and generating their own energy.

They had plans to create a learning centre so children and adults could get involved in creating energy efficient projects, including solar powered systems and “ambient energy harvesters,” said the page.

The land is owned by both Poole Borough and Bournemouth Borough Councils, however the group claims to have taken “lawful” possession of the land. An eviction notice was granted on 3rd February on the basis of trespass.
