The general manager of marketing and operations at Microsoft UK has been appointed to Ofgem’s governing authority.
Dr Nicola Hodson will take up a non-executive role at the energy regulator’s Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (GEMA) for the next five years until 28th February 2020.
GEMA is a body that was established to regulate the gas and electricity industries in Britain, protecting the interests of consumers by promoting effective competition.
Ms Hodson has worked on transforming businesses throughout her career and is expected to bring previous experience in the energy and utilities sector.
David Gray, GEMA Chairman said: “Nicola will bring a wealth of experience across a number of areas that are very relevant to the challenges we are addressing and will contribute to a leadership that, with a new strategy and work programme, continues to look to make the most of its resources and powers to make a positive difference for energy consumers.”
Ms Hodson was approved by DECC following an open competition.
