Business electricity supplier Haven Power was acquired by Drax in 2009 after being set up by a team of energy experts in 2006. The company was originally established to serve the needs of SME businesses, which were traditionally either being treated as domestic customers, and therefore not getting the service they required, or as large industrials.

Now, Haven Power is focussed on providing cost-effective electricity to businesses of all sizes, by offering a range of contracts backed by dedicated customer support. The company has grown considerably in recent years, now employing over 350 staff and boasting a turnover in excess of £1.052 billion. Its 40,000-strong customer-base is a mixture of both SME and I&C businesses, with larger customers including some household names. Haven’s range of I&C products has been developed to suit the buying preference and risk-management strategies of major energy users. The products have been designed after engaging widely with large end-users and energy consultant to ensure that they offer what customers want and needed from their energy contract. Haven power offers both fixed and flexible purchasing arrangements which are tailored to different customer’s individual needs and requirements. These products are backed by excellent levels of customer service including a dedicated account team of highly experience support staff as well as a key account manager to oversee the relationship from procurement through to billing. Haven Power prides itself on keeping the customer at the heart of everything it does, and is always looking at how it can improve its service in response to what customers want.

Being part of Drax has brought a number of benefits to the business, such as security of supply and underwriting Haven’s competitive pricing. It also allows Haven to offer customers Climate Change Levy (CCL) exempt power at no extra cost to energy generated from conventional fuels. This option has been of real benefit to Haven’s customers at a time when businesses are being put under so much pressure to become environmentally responsible.
