A 211.2MW wind farm equally-owned by E.ON and General Electric (GE) opened in Texas yesterday.

The construction of ‘Grandview’ began last December and is the first co-investment between Big Six supplier E.ON and GE’s energy financial services arm.

The farm will generate enough electricity to power around 64,000 homes.

North American Chairman of E.ON Patrick Woodson said: “Like so many other projects this is creating jobs here at home, providing new development to the local community and helping to provide stable electricity pricing for the people of Texas.”

E.ON has invested more than €9.5 billion (£7bn) in renewable energy while GE Energy has invested more than $9 billion (£6bn) in wind power projects alone.
