A 288MW wind farm in the Baltic Sea has generated its first power which has been fed to the grid.

German developer and operator EnBW’s Baltic 2 offshore wind farm is currently being built 32 kilometres north of the island of Rugen.

So far, 60 out of the 80 turbines have been installed, with eight connected to the grid.

Once complete, the wind farm is expected to produce around 1,200GWh of electricity – enough to power 340,000 homes – and save 900,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
