The gas system is 15mcm short due to warmer temperatures reducing demand, according to npower’s daily market report.

Exports through the Interconnector have increased to 24mcm. Norwegian flows are quiet at 22mcm due to an unplanned outage.

Sarah Astley, Client Portfolio Manager on the Optimisation Desk at npower said: “Next week we see another heavy maintenance period in Norway and expect Langeled flows to drop further.”

The peak power margin today stands at around 20GW. Wind is currently generating 4.4GW and is expected to increase to more than 6GW today.

Oil is trading at around $65.5 a barrel (£42/bbl).

Ms Astley added: “European finance ministers are due to meet today to discuss the latest list of reforms proposed by Athens, however no breakthrough is expected.”
