Vans sold in the European Union last year are 2.4% more fuel efficient than they were in 2013.

According to a report presented by the European Environment Agency (EEA), 1.4 million vans registered in 2014 on average emitted 169.2 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer. This is 4g CO2/km less than in 2013.

Portugal had the lowest emissions (145.1g CO2/km) followed by Malta (145.7g) and Bulgaria (148.6g).

On the other hand, Slovakia (193.3g), Czech Republic (192.1g) and Germany (190.4g) had the highest emissions.

The EU has set a goal of 175g CO2/km for all vehicles by 2017.
