Ofgem has picked the company that will own and operate the tranmission link to an offshore wind farm in Yorkshire.

Transmission Capital Partners has been given the licence for assets worth £172.3 million for the next 20 years.

The 210MW Westermost Rough wind farm, located eight kilometres off the coast of Yorkshire, has 35 wind turbines.

The winner – a consortium of Transmission Capital Partners and International Public Partnerships – was decided through a competitive process.

The firm’s win comes after they won the licence for the Lincs offshore wind farm transmission link last November.

The offshore transmission regime was set up by Ofgem and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in 2009 and has delivered £2.3 billion of investment.
