Gas demand has dropped due to warmer temperatures, according to npower’s daily market report.

It has fallen to 107mcm and is expected to drop further to 70mcm in mid June.

LNG sendout is significantly lower than May’s average sendout. The Interconnector exports are slightly lower.

CCGT demand is almost at 26mcm.

Steven Walker from npower’s optimisation desk said: “Solar feed-in climbs from 4GW towards almost 6GW of generation by the end of the week, accompanying the warmer temperatures.”

There is almost 6GW wind generation today, however it will fall to below 1GW on Thursday.

All interconnectors are nominated to import to the UK.

Brent hit $65 a barrel (£42.66/Bbl) on Friday.

Mr Walker added: “It was likely OPEC [Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries] production hit a 2.5 year high in May at 31m barrels/day.”
