The gas system has opened roughly balanced this morning, according to npower’s daily market report.

This has meant power and gas prices are stable despite Norwegian maintenance on the Troll gas field.

However Langeled flows have reduced significantly as expected, currently flowing at 11mcm.

The linepack is currently forecast to close 2mcm short.

Rough however continues to nominate 1mcm of injections.

 

Ben Spry from npower’s optimisation desk said: “The power system sees a little extra comfort today with the forecast peak margin above 10GW.”

He added: “Wind is very subdued.” It is currently generating 0.2GW (0.8%) and is expected to remain around this level for the rest of the day.

CCGT has increased in response, currently generating 14.4GW (43.9%).

Oil is still trading under $50 a barrel (£32/Bbl) this morning.
