Irish renewable energy group Gaelectric has raised €28 million (£20.5m) for onshore wind projects.

The funds will be used to build wind farms in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

It is expected to help increase its operational onshore wind capacity to 177.6MW by the end of the year.

This is the fourth round of financing it has completed with Proventus Capital Partners since 2012.

In June the firm opened a 6MW onshore wind farm in Ireland.
