A solar farm with a capacity of 265MW will be built in Utah, US.

The Three Cedars solar project is expected to produce enough electricity to power more than 36,000 homes.

The project is expected to create around 250 jobs during construction and produce $17 million ($10.8m) in direct property and income taxes over 20 years.

It it is the second project being developed as part of the joint venture, with the first being the 420MW Four Brothers solar farm in the same region.

Paul Gaygnor, Executive Vice President of SunEdison EMEA & Americas said: “SunEdison power plants put hundreds of people to work, create real and lasting benefits for local residents and deliver clean energy to Utah homes at a competitive price.”

The solar farm is expected to start operating in 2016.
