The UK gas system is undersupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

It has opened 4.7mcm short this morning despite lower demand as a result of the warmer weather.

Norwegian flows via the Langeled pipeline are currently at 31mcm.

Alex Guiot from npower’s optimisation desk said: “[They are]Lower than last week’s level but in line with flows this week with LNG send-out also stable at 37mcm. We have another two cargoes expected to arrive in the UK over the weekend which should ensure LNG contribution remains constant over the next couple of weeks.”

On the power system, wind generation is currently at 3.3GW.

Coal is generating 5.6GW and nuclear is producing 7.3GW.

Alex Guiot added: “The French and Dutch interconnectors are at full import capacity.”

Oil is coming off to $48.20 per barrel.
