The UK gas system is “slightly” undersupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is currently forecast to close around 3mcm short.

Sarah Astley from npower’s optimisation desk said: “Langeled flows have reduced back down to around 40mcm following the surge yesterday as the end of maintenance sees Norwegian flows diverted back to the Continent.”

LNG flows are stable and another cargo to the UK has been confirmed but it is not scheduled to arrive for another couple of weeks.

Gas demand has been reduced due to warmer temperatures and lower CCGT demand, however it remains above seasonal levels.

The power system is forecast above 10GW today.

Ms Astley added: “The end of maintenance means both the Dutch and French interconnectors are back importing at full capacity.”

However wind generation remains at below 1GW today and tomorrow.

Oil is currently trading at around $49.5 per barrel.
