The UK gas system is balanced, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is expected to close at 1.5mcm long.

Gemma Bruce, from npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “Demand continues to be supported above normal seasonal levels however it is lower than the levels we have seen earlier in the week as gas fired generation eases this morning with more renewable generation online.”

Langeled flows from Norway are currently at 32mcm as an outage at Troll gas field has reduced supply by 14mcm today.

On the power system, peak margin is at 5GW.

Wind is generating at 4GW and is expected to reach 5GW.

Ms Bruce said the pound has stabilised with £1 now worth €1.36 after the losses yesterday afternoon.
