Siemens has been awarded a contract to supply turbines for a wind farm in the US.

The German company will deliver and install 66 turbines with a capacity of 2.3MW each. The Grant Wind project in Oklahoma is expected to have a capacity of 151MW – enough to power around 50,000 homes.

Siemens is also financing the construction of the site with a $50 million (£33m) investment. The project, which is owned by Apex Clean Energy, is scheduled to start operating in spring 2016.

Thomas Richterich, CEO Onshore of the Siemens Wind Power and Renewables Division said: “We are proud to meet the customers demand with our full spectrum of resources including equipment, service and financing.”
