A low carbon hub in Wales has received a £10 million investment from the EU.

The Menai Science Park (M-SPARC), located in Anglesey and led by Bangor University will focus on low carbon and renewable businesses.

It aims to encourage collaborations with research organisations on innovative projects and create employment opportunities for local people.

The project previously received £10 million from the Welsh Government.

Construction is set to begin in summer next year and the first few businesses are expected to move in in early 2018.

Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones said: “It will provide a dynamic and supportive environment for low carbon energy businesses in North West Wales, encouraging collaboration in the development of new products, processes and services.

“The investment will also support job creation, helping secure a sustainable future for Anglesey and contributing to economic growth for the area and the wider Welsh economy.”
