The UK gas system is balanced today, according to npower’s daily market report.

Demand has increased and exports via the UK Interconnector have also risen to 40mcm.

CCGT demand has also picked up to 43mcm.

Tim Carter from npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “Unplanned outages in Norway have been resolved so Langeled flows are back up to pre-outage levels of around 54mcm.”

LNG is nominated at 54mcm.

Brent oil is currently trading at $47 (£30.55) per barrel.

Mr Carter added: “It follows unofficial API [American Petroleum Institute] data yesterday which estimates US crude stockpiles grew by around 4m barrels last week, although there is some support as a draw from Cushing, the delivery point for WTI [West Texas Intermediate], has been forecast.”
