The gas system has opened undersupplied this morning, according to npower’s daily market report.
Ben Spry from the optimisation desk said the system is “around 3-4mcm short”.
However despite this, gas and power prices are lower this morning.
He added “flows are relatively healthy into the UK” and have increased at 16mcm through the Dutch Balgzand Bacton Line.
LNG supply continues to be “very healthy”.
Mr Spry went on to say: “In terms of power…gas is well over 30% of the mix, followed by coal, nuclear and very low wind [at] just over 1% of the UK mix.”
Supply margins are “relatively tight” at just above 6GW.
The price of oil has dropped to just under $49 a barrel (£32/Bbl).
