The UK gas system is well supplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is forecast to close 12mcm long.

Sarah Astley from npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “Temperatures are set to dip through to Saturday however they will remain above seasonal normal levels and are then forecast to increase again from Sunday.”

Langeled and LNG flows have been reduced by 3mcm and 10mcm respectively compared to yesterday morning.

The power system remains healthy with the peak margin forecast at more than 10GW.

Wind is generating 3.7GW but is expected to reach around 7GW tonight.

Ms Astley added: “Imports via the interconnectors remain stable totalling around 2.5GW.”

Oil has dropped below $46 (£29.9) per barrel.
