The UK gas system is oversupplied this morning, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is forecast to close 9mcm long.

Latest temperature forecasts show they will be above average for the next week but they are expected to get colder from next weekend.

Sarah Astley from npower’s optimisation desk said: “LNG flows are higher today at 50mcm as South Hook makes room for two tankers which are scheduled to dock over the next couple of days.”

The power system also remains comfortable with the peak margin forecast to out-turn more than 11GW.

Wind generation is currently at 5.6GW and is expected to remain around this level for the rest of the day. Nuclear generation has reduced to 7GW. Imports via the interconnectors remain unchanged totalling 2.5GW.

Oil is currently trading at $44.6 a barrel (£30/Bbl).
