Lightsource Renewable Energy has announced it will install 3GW of solar capacity in India.
The firm, in partnership with Indian companies, will develop different solar projects as part of a £2 billion investment in the next five years.
It claims they will create more than 600 jobs in India and the UK.
Lightsource’s CEO, Nick Boyle said: “The Indian Government has ambitious plans for renewable energy and we’re very pleased that Lightsource will be contributing significantly to that goal.”
India has a target to install 175GW of renewable energy by 2022.
The country is on track to achieving its goal, according to the Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA).
