The gas system has opened 11mcm long this morning, according to npower’s daily market report.

Norwegian flows through the Langeled pipeline are nominated at 55mcm.

Alex Guiot from npower’s optimisation desk said temperatures are 2°C above seasonal normal levels but are expected to drop below normal this weekend before rising again.

LNG flows have dropped but a tanker arrival from Al Shamal, Qatar on the 24th of November will help nominations to reach more than 40mcm again.

The peak power margin is tighter today at 7.6GW but this is not helping prompt prices to firm despite wind providing a healthy 4.6GW.

CCGT demand is up from yesterday and is currently providing 32% of the stack compared to 26% yesterday. The Dutch interconnector is importing at full capacity again and the French one is still at its cap level of 1.5GW.

Oil is currently trading at $44.26 a barrel (£29/Bbl).
