Our client is a FTSE 100 Company and one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK, with around 10 million customers across our various brands. They are a leading constructor and operator of electricity, gas and water networks for commercial and residential developments. They also design, manage and install district heating systems and maintain energy centres for communities and businesses all over the UK.

They are currently involved in a range of projects throughout the UK, including a number of high-profile and innovative energy centre and district heating projects, which has created an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager in our Thatcham office.

Providing sound contractual advice to senior operational managers, you will review and advise on matters and agreements relating to pre-contract and post-contract, both upstream and downstream. You will provide general advice and assistance on contractual matters, including negotiating and advising on supply agreements and construction contracts and negotiate/settle final accounts.

Your responsibilities will extend to analysing and reporting on contractual and commercial risk associated with main contracts and sub contracts/supplier agreements and providing advice on the prevention and resolution of commercial and legal issues.

To be successful in this role, you will be educated to degree level and hold a formal professional qualification such as MRICS. You should have proven experience in a commercial role with a main contractor, combined with a strong understanding of construction contracts.

You should possess effective communication and negotiation skills and be flexible and pragmatic. You should have the ability to identify and suggest innovation and effective business improvements.
As this role requires an element of travel, you should be prepared to travel and possess a full, clean driving licence due to the level of mobility required in this role.
