The UK power system remains comfortable today, according to npower’s daily market report.

The peak margin is forecast above 11GW.

Wind is generating at 4.8GW.

Sarah Astley from npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “The Dutch interconnector continues to import at full capacity of 1GW while the French interconnector sees little change from yesterday at 1.25GW against its current restricted capacity of 1.5GW.”

The gas system is well supplied and the linepack is forecast to close 5mcm long.

Demand is around 10% below seasonal normal levels as temperatures are above average.

Exports via the IUK have doubled to 20mcm.

Ms Astley added: “Langeled is still flowing above 50mcm and the BBL at 20mcm. LNG flows from South Hook also sees little change at 27mcm with two tankers due to dock in the UK by the end of the week.”

Oil is currently trading below $41 per barrel (£26.6/bbl).
