Volkswagen’s factories in Mexico will be powered by green energy.

A wind farm with a capacity of 130MW will be built in Central Mexico to power the car manufacturer’s sites in the region.

Spanish company Gamesa will supply 65 of its turbines with a capacity of 2MW each to the project.

It will also be responsible for the infrastructure needed to develop the project.

Companies Mexico Power Group and First Reserve are responsible for the construction.

The La Bufa wind park is expected to be completed next year.

Earlier this year, Volkswagen admitted it falsified emissions tests for its diesel cars.
