A London-based bank has made an investment worth €1 million (£0.73m) to boost energy efficiency funding in Kosovo.

The cash from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) follows a growing demand for energy efficient financing in the country.

The availability of medium and long-term funding to the private sector for energy efficiency and sustainable investments in the country’s current market is limited, according to the EBRD.

Elena Petrovska, EBRD Associate Director, Head of Kosovo said: “While the potential for energy savings is high across all the sectors in Kosovo, the exisiting market barriers for energy efficiency investments make financing such projects difficult.”
