Giant financial software and data firm Bloomberg has announced it aims to source 100% of its electricity from renewables.

The company has joined the RE100 initiative and plans to achieve the goal by 2025.

The firm claims the decision follows ongoing efforts to prove that sustainable business practices are good for the environment and for businesses.

A total of 55 firms have joined the initiative so far including Nike, Philips and Tata Motors.

Curtis Ravenel, Head of Bloomberg’s Sustainable Business and Finance Team said: “RE100 convinced us that they had gathered a strong coalition of committed companies, dedicated to real outcomes. Collaborating with other companies who are demonstrating that distributed clean energy makes business sense, will allow all of us to have a greater impact in bringing other companies along.”
