Around 1.79 million energy efficiency measures were installed until the end of January.

They were developed through government’s schemes such as the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and the Green Deal (GD).

The lifetime carbon savings are estimated to be between 23.9 million tonnes of CO2 and 25.4MtCO2, according to new data released by DECC.

They are also expected to provide estimated lifetime energy savings between 97,000GWh and 103,300GWh, it added.

Around 1,71 million energy efficient improvements were installed by the ECO programme out of which 37% was related to cavity wall insulation.

Loft insulation accounted for 26% while boiler and other heating upgrades were 21% and 8% respectively.

Around 19% of ECO measures were in the North West, the highest rate and 12% in Scotland.

The total number of measures installed through the Green Deal programme was 639,965.

However, the scheme was scrapped by the government last year.
