More than 2.5 million people in the US work in the clean energy sector.

That’s according to a report by the national non-partisan business group Environmental Entrepreneurs, which analysed information from the Department of Energy and surveyed people.

The ‘Clean Jobs America’ report revealed energy efficiency is by far the largest clean sector employer, with almost 1.9 million people.

They all work in areas which include high efficiency lighting, different appliances for buildings and services to reduce wasted energy in homes, schools and businesses.

Around 414,000 people work in the renewable sector.

Solar employs 299,000 people and wind 77,000.

Nearly 170,000 Americans work in the advanced vehicle industry, including 107,000 who work on hybrids and electric vehicles.
