The US and China have announced they will sign the Paris Agreement this month.

In a join statement the two countries stated they will put their signatures on the international climate deal on April 22nd.

They will then commit to take their respective domestic steps as early as possible this year and work together to promote the full implementation of the deal.

The statement added: “They [US and China] encourage other Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to do the same with a view to bringing the Paris Agreement into force as early as possible.

“The Presidents recognise that the Paris Agreement marks a global commitment to tackling climate change and a strong signal of the need for a swift transition to low carbon, climate-resilient economies.”
