Walt Disney Resort in Florida will be powered by solar energy.

A solar facility with a capacity of 5MW – equivalent to 1,000 residential rooftop systems – has been developed to provide green energy to the resort.

The project consists of 48,000 solar panels which the shape of Mickey Mouse. The solar farm will help meet the electricity needs of the resort as well as the hotels nearby.

It has been developed by US firm Duke Energy.

Angie Renner, Environmental Integration Director for Walt Disney World Resort said: “As a company that cares about the environment, we continually take steps of varying sizes to benefit the environment and protect the planet. This new solar facility will help us in our efforts to conserve natural resources.”
