A helicopter heading back from an oil field off the coast of Norway crashed outside of Bergen.

Statoil said the CHC helicopter was carrying 13 people.

It was en route from the Gullfaks B platform to Bergen.

The oil and gas company said in a statement: “Statoil has temporarily grounded all equivalent traffic helicopters. The rescue operation is led and coordinated by the rescue coordination centre, and Statoil is providing additional resources.

“Statoil has mobilised its entire emergency response organisation.”
