Transport for London (TfL) has appointed Renewable Energy Association’s (REA) Chief Executive Nina Skorupska as one of its board members.

Ms Skorupska will be part of the new Board of Governors, appointed by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, which includes 11 other members.

She will bring extensive knowledge of the renewable heat, power and transport industries to the group, REA said in a statement.

Ms Skorupska was the first female power station manager for RWE npower in the UK before being the Director of Performance Improvement for the RWE Group.

She is also a member of the board of the Women in Science and Engineering Campaign and received New Year’s Honours this year for her contribution to renewables and equality in energy.

She said: “I am deeply excited by this appointment. I have spent the past three years immersed in the changing world of energy, where the transition to a low carbon, accessible and affordable energy system is in full swing. To have a seat at such a diverse, intelligent and accomplished table is a humbling thing and I hope my knowledge and experience will be of value in these turbulent times of change and opportunity.”
