A new gadget which will allow householders monitor their energy consumption has been launched.

The gadget, developed by German firm Elgato, is plugged in a wall and connected to the devices around the house via bluetooth.

Eve Energy will let people see the power consumption of individuals units, meaning that they can monitor the consumption of connected devices and turn them off remotely through Apple’s latest ‘home’ app.

It can also let householders know how much energy the device plugged into it is using and report its findings in daily, weekly or monthly graphics. It will also provide an estimated annual cost.

As it relies on Apple’s Home platform, users can also control their devices using Siri, which will allow remote control swtiching on and off of devices.
