Alan Whitehead has been reappointed as Shadow Energy and Climate Change Minister just three months after he resigned from the same role.

The MP for Southampton Test joins Clive Lewis who is now the Shadow Business, Energy and Industrial Secretary.

Mr Whitehead had stepped down as part of a wave of resignations in protest against Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, saying he was “not the right person to lead the opposition”.

Barry Gardiner, who has been replaced by Mr Lewis, has been appointed as Shadow International Trade Secretary but will continue to work on energy and climate issues.
