One of the UK’s leading Energy companies are seeking a Lead Financial Modeller to join their expanding team which focuses on Heat projects. Within this position, you will offer advisory services to internal and external stakeholders including all studies and analyses required to make a preliminary valuation of the financial feasibility of heat networks and also to outline an initial assumption as to how the funding required to sustain an SPV can be obtained.

Key accountabilities of the role:

  • Understand sponsor’s objectives and then to identify alternative solutions to achieve these
  • Evaluate risks inherent in the project and to attempt to find strategies to mitigate, manage, and allocate these risks
  • Assist in preparing and negotiating major contracts concerning the projects
  • Lead in preparing the business plan or review the plan already prepared by others
  • Highlight problems not considered but that must be resolved to ensure the deal’s success

Ideally you will:

  • Essential Skills and Experience
  • Experience in ESCo financial modelling, ideally for heat networks
  • A qualified accountant or equivalent
  • Strong track record in financial modelling with the project finance PPP/PFI sector
  • FAST certification, desired
  • Track record in producing a term sheet
  • Excellent excel skills and ability to build Macros, VBAs
  • Experience of modelling in PPP
  • Experience in designing and structuring SPV’s
  • Risk analysis tools
  • A strong understanding of investment principles (e.g.: DCF, IRR, NPV)
  • A strong understanding of accounting and financial concepts (e.g.: indexation)
  • Ability to describe complex technical issues in a clear and non-technical way
  • Ability to build and review business models
