The UK gas system is trading firmer this morning, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is expected to close 2mcm short.

Temperatures are expected to remain below seasonal normal levels for the rest of the month as a high pressure system will bring cold dry air into the UK.

On the power system, demand is set to peak around 52GW.

Wind is generating 3GW and solar generation is expected to be at around the same level.

The French interconnector is exporting at 1GW and will flow into the UK later today.

Brent oil is currently trading at $46.75/bbl (£37.4/bbl).

Rodney Johnson from the Optimisation Desk said: “Brent has eased over the weekend as on the resurgence of doubts overs producers’ ability to rein in oversupply.”

The pound is valued €1.17.
