Denver City Council is to make the energy ratings of all commercial buildings public.

The information will be published on a clickable map and searchable database online.

The move is the latest step in a series of initiatives from the Energize Denver task force, which aims to ensure the city meets its energy efficiency goals.

Businesses will need to find out the Energy Star score of their properties using the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Star Portfolio Manager tool.

The decision was unanimously approved by city councillors and will come into effect from 2017.
