Our client are a leading data warehouse that spans thousands of utilities, hundreds of thousands of business sites and millions of households across the globe. Due to steady success and growth and numerous industry awards, they are looking to expand their UK Energy Trading and Utility Market team and are looking to secure an Energy Risk Manager with a strong background in Power & Gas Markets.

Key Responsibilities

·     Primary responsibility: The timely production and delivery of Risk Management Strategies which are understood and signed by clients – this will require expertise to establish credibility with well-informed clients / suppliers and a good communication style to engage with less well-informed clients

·     Design, development, implementation and ownership of best practise energy risk policies, guides, strategies, controls and plans – strategic and tactical – corporate level and individual clients and baskets level, taking into account portfolio purchasing optimisation

·     Development and implementation of risk methodology techniques, key performance indicators, performance reporting and benchmarking guidelines

·     Working closely with UK / EU suppliers and other counterparties (banks) to develop and deliver innovative energy procurement / risk management product and services to support growth

·     Support Account Management with client queries relating to energy markets and trading

Skills and Experience Desired

·     Qualifications or Required Experience: Degree level educated – BSc or MSc in Economics, Finance, Maths, Risk Management, or Business Administration

·     A proven track record of fostering strong long term client / supplier relationships at a UK and global level

·     Has a capacity to formulate clear vision and ability to conceptualise and understand the bigger picture in procurement and risk management, with an emphasis on key detail

·     Deep practical experience and understanding of the UK / EU energy risk management, strategy development and trading of electricity or natural gas gained either within an energy supply company or in a risk management role within an energy consultancy

·     Exceptional knowledge of the UK / EU electricity, natural gas, LNG, oil, coal and carbon markets – industrial and commercial sectors, including good understanding of the UK / EU energy regulation and legislation
