Electricity North West engineers are working to restore power to more than 250 customers in Buxton, Macclesfield and Leigh after torrential storms struck parts of England yesterday.

Storm Aileen left people in the dark in the north west last night but power is back on for more than 1,000 customers.

Engineers are still working to power the remaining 256 homes and businesses in Buxton, Macclesfield and Leigh.

The Met Office had issued an amber weather warning for severe gales of 65-75mph and a yellow warning for rain in the north west.
